Amazon's eero Signal Introduces Cellular Backup Solution for Uninterrupted Internet Connectivity
Amazon-owned eero has unveiled its latest connectivity solution, the eero Signal 4G LTE, priced at $99.99. Announced this Wednesday, the device functions as an automated backup system designed to maintain internet connectivity during service interruptions for subscribers with an active eero membership.
The eero Signal integrates seamlessly with compatible USB-C powered eero devices featuring Wi-Fi 6 or higher specifications. The system employs intelligent failover technology, automatically transitioning to cellular connectivity when primary internet service is disrupted, then reverting to standby mode once the connection is restored.
Target Use Cases:
• Remote workforce professionals requiring consistent connectivity• Users maintaining always-on security and surveillance systems
• Residents in geographic areas experiencing frequent network outages
The solution leverages a cost-effective subscription model, as cellular data is consumed only during outage periods. At launch, eero offers two subscription tiers:
• eero Plus: $99.99 annually with 10 GB backup data allocation• eero Plus 100: $199.99 annually with 100 GB backup data allocation
Both plans feature promotional pricing for initial device purchases.
Future Roadmap: The company has confirmed plans to release a 5G-enabled version of the eero Signal later this year, retailing at $199.99. Additionally, support for eero Business plan subscribers is scheduled for implementation in the coming months.
