Snapchat Rolls Out Alpha Creator Subscription Program for Monetization

Snapchat has officially launched its creator subscription feature in alpha mode for select content creators in the United States, beginning February 23. The initiative introduces a new revenue stream for creators while providing subscribers with exclusive access to premium content.

The subscription model enables users to support their favorite creators, including Jeremiah Brown, Harry Jowsey, and Skai Jackson, through monthly payments. Creators maintain full control over pricing structures within the application, while Snapchat provides recommended tier options to optimize monetization strategies.

Key features of the subscription program include:

• Priority response status on creators' public Stories
• Ad-free viewing experience for subscribed creators' content

This monetization framework complements Snapchat's existing revenue-generation programs, including the Unified Monetization Program and the Snap Star Collab Studio. According to the company's official statement, "Creator Subscriptions introduce a premium layer of connection directly into how Snapchatters already engage with creators across Stories, Chat, and replies."

The platform's Q4 2025 financial results revealed 946 million daily active users, with U.S.-based Spotlight contributors experiencing a year-over-year growth of over 47%. The company recently restructured its hardware division into a standalone entity called Specs.

Snapchat plans to expand the subscription program to Snap Stars in Canada, the United Kingdom, and France within the coming weeks. This move aligns with industry trends, as competitor Meta already offers similar subscription models on Instagram and Facebook, providing creators with alternative monetization channels through exclusive content and badge systems.
