Former GitHub CEO Secures Record-Breaking $60M Seed Funding for AI-Driven Code Management Platform

Thomas Dohmke, former CEO of GitHub, has successfully closed a $60 million seed funding round at a $300 million valuation for his new venture, Entire. According to lead investor Felicis, this represents the largest seed round ever raised for a developer tooling startup.

Entire is developing an open-source solution designed to address the growing challenge of managing code generated by AI agents. The platform aims to provide developers with enhanced visibility and control over AI-produced codebases.

Technical Architecture

Entire's technology stack comprises three core components:

• A git-compatible database that serves as a unified repository for AI-generated code. Git, a distributed version control system, is widely adopted across enterprises and powers major platforms like GitHub and GitLab.

• A universal semantic reasoning layer enabling seamless collaboration between multiple AI agents within a single development environment.

• An AI-native user interface specifically architected for agent-to-human collaborative workflows.

Initial Product Release: Checkpoints

The company's first offering is an open-source tool called Checkpoints, which automatically associates every code submission from an AI agent with its complete contextual metadata, including prompts, transcripts, and decision-making processes. This functionality enables human developers to review, audit, and understand the reasoning behind AI-generated code contributions.

Addressing AI Code Proliferation Challenges

The platform specifically targets the escalating issue of code volume management in the age of AI-assisted development. Open-source projects are experiencing unprecedented influxes of code contributions, many of questionable quality—commonly referred to as "AI slop"—consisting of poorly architected or non-functional code.

Dohmke stated: "We are living through an agent boom, and now massive volumes of code are being generated faster than any human could reasonably understand. The truth is, our manual system of software production — from issues, to git repositories, to pull requests, to deployment — was never designed for the era of AI in the first place."

Leadership Background

Dohmke served as CEO of Microsoft's GitHub for four years before departing in August 2025 to establish his startup. During his tenure, he led the development and commercialization of GitHub Copilot, one of the industry's most prominent AI coding assistants.

The seed round was led by Felicis, with participation from Madrona, M12, Basis Set, Harry Stebbings, Jerry Yang, and Datadog founder and CEO Olivier Pomel.
